Your wedding menu It consumes half of your day and is a huge part of the social interaction between you and your guests. It starts with a few trays of canapes and reception drinks, moving on to a three-course meal, and then to finish the night, your chosen evening food. Food is one of the most effective triggers of memories and emotions, so what you put out will, in the coming years, remind you and your guests of your day.
When deciding on your menu, there are three main factors you should take into account:
In today’s day and age, you don’t need to choose what your family would want or what is deemed traditional, have something you love. Whether that is your favourite meal as a couple, a childhood favourite, or something you would always pick at a restaurant. Since working with Uppercrust, the process of learning our brides' and grooms’ preferences and building a menu that suits them has been one of my favourite things to do. It helps us build a more real relationship with our clients and makes their day so much more personal to them.
When picking your style of dining, it's very easy to choose the traditional sit-down, three-course meal. This is in no way a bad choice; in fact, it's easy to prepare and leaves more time for your evening entertainment. However, there are more styles to consider. The carvery style: this comprises a carvery style meal; you nominate one guest per table to cut your chosen joint and have multiple sides brought out alongside it, which your guests can dig into. Similarly, with our sharing courses, you can create a very social dining experience that gets everyone talking. This is perfect if your wedding guests do not know each other. When deciding, take into account what your guests would feel comfortable doing, how much time you have set for the meal, and what you want the atmosphere to be in the room during the meal.
Although your menu should be tailored to you, it’s very likely that you will have a number of dietary requirements ranging from vegetarians and vegans to celiacs to specific items and kids. You want to create for them a menu that is still in line with your courses but that they will love. This will mean more choices and organization, but it will be much less stressful on the day.
If you take anything from this, choose YOU, your preferences, your preferred styles, and your ideas for the day. If the food is something you love every time you eat you will remember your special day, and so will your guests.
